Guangzhou-based designer TzuYin Weng and team have been honored with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award 2025 for "Infinite Borders," a groundbreaking visual identity project that reimagines the Three Kingdoms brand by blending Han Dynasty heritage with modern design, appealing to both younger and global audiences.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Infinite Borders," led by Brand Director TzuYin Weng and a talented design team, has been recognized with the Golden A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award for 2025. The project, launched in November 2023, redefines the visual identity of the Three Kingdoms brand by drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of the Han Dynasty and the iconic "land grid" gameplay associated with the era. Through extensive research, including museum visits and demographic studies, the team extracted authentic color palettes-black, red, and white-and pictographic elements to create a brand system that is both historically grounded and visually striking.
The design's uniqueness lies in its fusion of traditional calligraphic brushstrokes, modern typography, and flat design principles, resulting in a flexible visual language that resonates with contemporary audiences. By referencing the pictographic character "Shuai" and integrating the grid square motif from strategy games, "Infinite Borders" delivers a distinctive and memorable brand experience. The system is designed for seamless application across digital posters, UI interfaces, esports branding, and merchandise, ensuring visual consistency and ease of extension for designers worldwide.
Overcoming the challenge of balancing cultural authenticity with modern aesthetics, the team succeeded in infusing new vitality into the Three Kingdoms narrative. Their approach not only preserves the era's historical significance but also makes it accessible and appealing to younger generations and international markets. The project's recognition with the Golden A' Design Award underscores its role as a trendsetting and influential contribution to the fields of art, design, and cultural communication.
