GERMANY -- /COMMUNICATION/newswire -- Jul 30, 2024

Geissert Thomas's HWG Campus Lu wayfinding system, implemented in 2024 at the University of Business and Society in Ludwigshafen, Germany, has been honored with the Bronze A' Design Award 2025 for its modern, accessible, and user-friendly approach to campus navigation, enhancing orientation and safety for students and visitors alike.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Modern, Accessible Wayfinding System Transforms University of Business and Society Campus in Ludwigshafen

The HWG Campus Lu wayfinding system, designed by Thomas Geissert, introduces a contemporary and distinctive identity to the University of Business and Society campus in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Developed over nearly a decade and completed in 2024, the system addresses the needs of a diverse academic community by combining modern aesthetics with functional clarity. The project's core objective was to foster a calm, welcoming atmosphere that supports safety, confidence, and ease of navigation for students, faculty, and visitors.

Key features of the system include the use of the open Roboto typeface, high-contrast color schemes, and intuitive iconography, all chosen to maximize readability and accessibility. The signage utilizes aluminium frames and panels, glass fiber reinforced concrete, and illuminated, color-coded building numbers to ensure visibility day and night. Special attention was given to accessibility, with tactile lettering and high-contrast information boards designed for individuals with visual impairments, ensuring inclusivity across the campus environment.

Geissert's design draws inspiration from the campus's architectural elements and landscape, integrating materials and colors that harmonize with their surroundings while maintaining a clear, independent identity. The project overcame significant technical challenges, such as combining laser-cut aluminium, powder coating, backlit acrylic glass, and engraved concrete into a cohesive, durable system. The result is a timeless, minimal, and highly functional wayfinding solution that enhances the quality of campus life and sets a new standard for educational environments.
