"FOG" Series Captures Surreal Architecture in Dreamlike Californian Landscapes, Showcasing Technical Mastery and Artistic Vision

Simone Hutsch, a Berlin-born, London-based graphic designer and self-taught architecture photographer, has received the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Photography and Photo Manipulation for her latest project, "FOG." This striking series features 25 images that seamlessly blend monumental European architectural forms with ethereal, fog-laden Californian landscapes, resulting in compositions that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination. The award recognizes Hutsch's exceptional technical skill and her ability to evoke wonder through innovative visual storytelling.

The "FOG" series was realized using a combination of iPhone 14 for capturing the Californian landscapes in April 2024 and a Sony Alpha 7RII for photographing architectural elements across Europe between 2018 and 2024. Each image was meticulously composed and retouched in Adobe Photoshop during August 2024, with a focus on achieving perfect perspective alignment and a harmonious pastel color palette. The final works are presented in high-resolution portrait format, suitable for both digital exhibition and large-scale A2 prints.

Hutsch's creative process is driven by her fascination with geometry, perspective, and the transformative power of retouching. Overcoming the challenge of matching angles and integrating disparate elements, she invites viewers into a surreal world where buildings appear to float in misty dreamscapes. The "FOG" series stands out for its minimalism, striking use of color, and the seamless fusion of architectural and natural forms, offering a fresh perspective on both genres.
