Moataz Mohamed's "Sheikh El Burger" branding project has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Advertising, Marketing, and Communication Design category for 2019. Developed in Egypt between May and June 2018 and exhibited in Doha, the project stands out for its creative integration of Arabian cultural motifs-most notably, the mustache-into a bold, modern logo for a burger brand. The design's simplicity, striking Arabic typography, and the iconic mustache element work together to communicate the brand's promise of quality, leadership, and a memorable dining experience.
The inspiration for the logo draws deeply from Arabian culture, where the word "Sheikh" signifies the highest rank, embodying gratitude, fairness, and positive leadership. Mohamed translated these values into visual form, using the mustache as a central theme to symbolize strength and tradition. The bold Arabic lettering complements the mustache, creating a unique and instantly recognizable identity that appeals to the target audience's sense of heritage and pride while maintaining a contemporary look and feel.
Mohamed's approach to the project included close collaboration with production teams to ensure the logo's adaptability across various packaging materials, such as burger boxes, fries containers, and delivery bags. The recommended materials and printing techniques were carefully selected to maintain the integrity of the design across all applications. The result is a cohesive brand presence that not only stands out visually but also resonates culturally with consumers. The Bronze A' Design Award recognizes the project's excellence in combining technical skill, cultural insight, and creative vision, setting a new standard for branding in the food industry.
