FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nemoo, inspired by the movie Finding Dory, is a revolutionary physical memory capture system designed to combat infantile amnesia. It assists in tracking a baby's memories from their perspective for the first three years of life, enabling the retrieval of important moments through virtual reality playback. The system, comprising a baby wearable device, app, and VR glasses, aims to build a connection between childhood memory and the future self, helping users know themselves better and retrieve lost childhood memories.
By simply attaching Nemoo to a baby's hats, it can record the childâs memory from their perspective. Parents can trigger recording during memorable moments, and the NEMOO mobile app can remotely manage settings and storage via Bluetooth connection. The footage is transferred to the parent's phone and transformed into a memorable VR story. Nemoo also allows connection of more than two devices simultaneously.
Yan Yan, an interdisciplinary designer, led the project with team members Siyu Zhang and Xiaodong Ma in San Francisco over a 4-month period. The design overcame challenges in differentiating from regular baby monitors, creating functional models, and finding appropriate materials. Nemoo was recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 for its innovative and practical approach to addressing infantile amnesia.
