TIST's Santa Village Design Transforms Lotte Duty Free Shops into a Seasonal Spectacle

TIST, a design team based in Seoul, Republic of Korea, has unveiled their latest project, "Pop Pop," a winter season spatial experience design for Lotte Duty Free. The project, which ran from November 2018 to January 2019, brought the magic of the season to eight Lotte Duty Free Shops across Korea.
The Santa Village design concept aimed to create a unique shopping experience for travelers, infusing the retail space with the spirit of winter and Christmas. TIST collaborated with Dutch artist Jordy Van Den Nieubdijk to bring the illustrations to life, portraying the enchanting winter scenes of Santa Village in a captivating and elaborate manner.
The design team faced the challenge of adapting the intricate illustrations to fit the distinct spaces and interior designs of the eight stores. Utilizing neon-flex lights, acrylic, and fomex, they brought the winter wonderland to life, creating a visual spectacle that captivated shoppers and enhanced their travel expectations.
Recognizing the exceptional creativity and resourcefulness of the Santa Village design, TIST was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Event and Happening Design category in 2020. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that demonstrate technical and creative excellence, contributing to significant improvements in quality of life.
