Yu Chen's "Let Parents Stay" Project Revives Han Embroidery Culture in Poverty-Stricken Jinling Village

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Reviving Traditional Han Embroidery with Modern Typeface Design

Yu Chen, a renowned designer, has embarked on a mission to revive the dying art of Han Embroidery in Jinling Village, a poverty-stricken community with over 2,000 "left-behind" children. Recognizing the local mastery of Han Embroidery skills, Chen collaborated with the Hubei Han Embroidery Association to modernize the traditional craft, creating a modern typeface inspired by the elements of traditional embroidery.

Chen's innovative approach involved extracting elements of traditional embroidery, deconstructing their texture, and drawing inspiration from the Jing-Chu Culture. The project aims to preserve and promote the inheritance of the endangered embroidery craft in a contemporary aesthetic manner, ensuring its continuity in a modern context.

Through the "Let Parents Stay" project, Chen not only addresses the economic challenges faced by the local community but also breathes new life into the cultural heritage of Han Embroidery. By integrating modern design principles with traditional craftsmanship, the project seeks to revitalize the local economy and empower the community through creative innovation.
