Renowned designer Harry Horstmann has unveiled a new brand identity for the CDU Hamburg, aiming to reshape the party as a modern, social, and forward-thinking entity. The relaunch encompasses a uniform visual language, responsive websites, and contemporary design elements, emphasizing the party's connection to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and its citizens.
The word and figurative mark of the Hamburg CDU, featuring the word mark CDU and the figurative mark Hamburg symbol, has been reimagined to symbolize the party's modern and liberal values. The logo, with its dark blue circular carrier surface, reflects the medieval Mariendom and the city's patron saint, St. Mary, through the castle and stars.
Horstmann's design team integrated extensive research into the city's society, the party's main topics, and its culture to create a brand image that resonates with the citizens. The project, which commenced in April 2022 and concluded in June 2023, overcame the challenge of balancing content expression with simplicity, resulting in a cohesive and impactful brand identity.
