Students and Tutors Collaborate to Construct Educational Architecture
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A unique architectural education project, the Xiwang Village Practice Project, has been successfully completed by a team of students and tutors led by jintao li. The project, which focuses on education and cultural architecture, aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience by allowing students to practically apply architectural theories and designs. The entire project, including architectural, visual, and packaging design, was exhibited at the Shenzhen Sea World Culture and Arts Center.
Designed and built by a collaborative effort between students, tutors, villagers, and construction workers, the project's main building spans 10m in length, 10m in width, and reaches a height of 5.8m. The construction commenced in October 2020 and the first phase was completed in January 2021, with the final visual design and exhibition finished in July 2021.
One of the notable aspects of this project is the direct involvement of students in the design and construction processes, marking a significant departure from traditional educational methods. The innovative use of mortise and tenon joints in the building's structure showcases the students' practical application of architectural knowledge.
The project not only serves as a testament to the students' creativity and technical skills but also highlights the importance of harmonizing student-parent relations, a challenge successfully overcome during the project. The Xiwang Village Practice Project has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the A' Education, Teaching Aid, and Training Content Design category, underscoring its practical, innovative, and professional qualities.
