Jinaga, a smart pass system for subway access, is set to transform the way people with disabilities navigate public transportation, providing a convenient and safe solution for seamless entry and exit.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Junsoo Choi, in collaboration with Sungmin Kim and Ara Shin, has developed Jinaga, a revolutionary smart pass system designed to address the challenges faced by people with disabilities when using subway transportation. Inspired by the inconvenience and potential dangers of tagging cards at subway ticket gates, Jinaga aims to provide a more accessible and user-friendly alternative for individuals with mobility limitations.
The system allows individuals to pass through subway ticket gates without the need for a traditional card tag. By carrying a small key fob, the blocked door opens automatically when passing through the ticket gate, offering a seamless and efficient experience. Currently implemented in the city of Daejeon, South Korea, Jinaga is initially catering to the needs of the disabled, with plans for future expansion to serve the general public.
Utilizing LF/RF signal technology, Jinaga's key fob and system module enable quick and convenient entry and exit without the requirement of swiping a card. The system seamlessly recognizes the key fob signal, transmitting information to the station office for automatic gate opening. Additionally, the system can be easily integrated into existing ticket gates, offering a cost-effective solution for subway operators looking to enhance accessibility.
The production of Jinaga involves advanced technology, with the key fob containing PCB with LF/RF signal and the system module housing a mini PC for data processing. The system's components are manufactured using plastic injection and spray painting, ensuring a durable and reliable solution for subway access.
Junsoo Choi's commitment to addressing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Social Design category. This accolade highlights the exceptional innovation and technical expertise demonstrated by Jinaga, showcasing its potential to positively impact the lives of subway users with disabilities.
