Memorializing the History of Communication through Visual Identity
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The School of Communication, ECNU, celebrates its 15th anniversary with a visual identity project, "Stories of Communication," designed by Mengyi Xie. This project pays homage to the evolution of communication, from ancient methods to modern technology, through a series of 100 sub-logos representing crucial inventions and initiatives of mankind.
The main logo, featuring the numeral 15, serves as the foundation for a family of 100 sub-logos, each portraying a significant story in the history of communication technology. The visual identity system, created using Adobe's software, encompasses branding, logo families, posters, and more, serving as a tribute to the discipline and development of communication.
Utilizing the main logo, sub-logos, typeface, and brand colors, the project has been integrated into various mediums, including posters, invitations, pamphlets, and online communication images. Additionally, souvenirs such as postcards, canvas bags, and bottled beverages featuring sub-logo graphics and stories were distributed to alumnus and staff.
Mengyi Xie, a senior brand designer from Shanghai, led the project, which was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that commemorates the history of communication and human wisdom.
