FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bruce Tao's "Grille" bookcase draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese grille, offering a distinctive and innovative approach to storage solutions. The design is centered around the concept of free-form assembly, allowing users to create individualized patterns and configurations.
Constructed from pine wood, the "Grille" bookcase features a modular design, consisting of small wooden boxes that can be arranged in various directions, providing a versatile and customizable storage solution. Measuring 124cm in length, 32cm in width, and 186cm in height, this unique bookcase offers ample space for organizing books and decorative items.
The project commenced in September 2020 in Milan and was completed in February 2021, with an exhibition in China. The design team, led by Shiwen Huang and designer Yuebing Chen, overcame the challenge of a complex internal structure and machining qualification rate to bring this innovative concept to life.
Bruce Tao, a prominent figure in industrial design, has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021 for the "Grille" bookcase design. His commitment to promoting industrial design in China and nurturing design students has led to the development of groundbreaking products and the acquisition of national patents for scientific and technological inventions.
