Renowned designer Tsuyoshi Omori unveils a compelling logo for the NPO Hansens Disease Sanatoria World Heritage Promotion Council, conveying the emotions of agony, sadness, and hope, with a strong message against discrimination and prejudice.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tsuyoshi Omori, the founder of triplet design, inc., has crafted a poignant logo and poster for the NPO Hansens Disease Sanatoria World Heritage Promotion Council, aiming to inscribe Hansens sanatoriums on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The design encapsulates the emotions of patients who suffered from Hansenâs disease, emphasizing the importance of not forgetting their tragic past.
The logo, featuring pictograms representing agony, sadness, and hope, serves as a powerful reminder of the patients' experiences. The bridge-shaped arrangement of the pictograms symbolizes the will to serve as a mediator of tragic history for future generations, while also resembling the letter H, signifying the disease. This thought-provoking design was released in May 2019 and updated in April 2020.
Omori's design is not only visually compelling but also serves a crucial purpose. Posters with the logo are displayed in nursery schools, kindergartens, and hospitals, raising awareness among the younger generation. Additionally, the logo and key visual can be downloaded for free from the website, allowing individuals to support the cause by using them as smartphone standby displays or stickers.
The inspiration behind the design stems from the Oku-Nagashima Bridge, a symbol of the residents' fight against discrimination and prejudice. As the average age of the residents exceeds 85, the design aims to prompt action and support for their cause.
Omori's commitment to addressing societal challenges through design is evident in this project, which has garnered international recognition, including the prestigious A' Design Award in 2021. His thoughtful approach to visual communication and dedication to creating meaningful designs continue to make a positive impact.
