Masahiro Kito unveils "Dress," a unique pottery furniture collection inspired by the delicateness of Aichi's pottery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Masahiro Kito's "Dress" Pottery Furniture Collection

Masahiro Kito presents "Dress," a pottery furniture collection inspired by the lightness and beauty of Aichi Prefecture's traditional pottery. The collection addresses the challenge of creating strong yet lightweight furniture from pottery, resulting in a unique and delicate interior design concept.

The "Dress" collection features hanging cloth expressed in porcelain, creating a "momentary space" that defies gravity. By utilizing pottery as a material for interior decoration, Kito brings delicateness into daily life. The installation's strength is achieved by soaking cloth in clay and baking it in layers, providing both durability and lightness.

Developed as various interior decorations such as chairs, tables, and lighting fixtures, the "Dress" collection offers organic natural shapes that serve as accents to elevate interior spaces. The project began in May 2019 and was exhibited at Nagoya University of the Arts in February 2020, showcasing Kito's innovative approach to pottery as a design material.

Recognized for its creative ingenuity, the "Dress" collection has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category in 2022, highlighting its contribution to quality of life improvements through art, science, design, and technology.
