QUAD studio reveals the innovative Megalopolis X, a groundbreaking architectural project set to redefine the future of Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and the Greater Bay Area.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
QUAD studio introduces Megalopolis X, a visionary architectural project situated on the southern edges of Shenzhen, bridging the city with a semi-circle base that connects Shenzhen Bay and Futian. By 2047, this innovative design will merge Shenzhen and Hong Kong into a single megalopolis, redefining the urban landscape.
The project stands out with its incorporation of advanced technology and a futuristic city framework, featuring a diversified Eco belt and a central park that spans the city's width. Megalopolis X anticipates future technologies, maximizing public space above ground while integrating a supportive utility infrastructure below ground to serve the entire city.
Spanning 120 hectares, Megalopolis X is designed to accommodate over 200,000 people, seamlessly connected to the larger Mega city and Greater Bay Area through a network of railway lines, road networks, and public transport interchanges.
QUAD studio's innovative approach to Megalopolis X includes a multilevel pedestrian linkage system, blending seamlessly with the landscape, art, cafes, public spaces, and key transport nodes. This design promotes social encounters, knowledge sharing, and a transformative environment for the future city's inhabitants.
Created in response to the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarter Base architectural ideas competition, Megalopolis X was developed over a 3-month period by a consortium comprising QUAD Studio Hong Kong, Atelier 10 Singapore, and MVA Hong Kong. QUAD studio was among 15 international design teams invited to participate in the competition.
QUAD studio's vision for Megalopolis X is underpinned by extensive research into automated living and the integration of cutting-edge infrastructure to cater to current and future technological advancements. The project overcame creative, technical, and research challenges to envision a city that fuses futuristic technology with contemporary arts, serving as a hub for the Greater Bay Area and a catalyst for the future of urban development.
QUAD studio, based in Hong Kong, operates at the forefront of architecture, urbanism, interior design, landscape design, product design, and research and development. The studio's innovative and interdisciplinary approach has earned them the prestigious Golden A' Design Award for Futuristic Design in 2020, recognizing their outstanding contribution to the field of architecture and urban design.
