Kinetic Chinese Characters by LI XINLIN

LI XINLIN's Kinetic Chinese Characters project is a groundbreaking exploration of the fusion of traditional Chinese characters with generative technology, resulting in a new trend in design. By integrating code and typography, the project challenges the fixed timeline of traditional characters, creating rich and unpredictable content. The innovative application of kinetic typography to Chinese characters unlocks unlimited creative potential.

Realized through computer programming and algorithms, the 16 works in the project are a testament to the potential of Chinese characters in a dynamic digital space. Each work is accompanied by a work appreciation essay, fostering interaction and communication with the audience.

Completed in 2019 at the College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University, this project has garnered recognition, including the Iron A' Design Award in 2020. LI XINLIN's innovative approach to kinetic Chinese characters sets the stage for the future of design, bridging the gap between tradition and technology.
