Przemek Hajek's 'Afterimages' is a groundbreaking art magazine that pays homage to the avant-garde tradition of the Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. The magazine, printed on rough high-quality paper, features a unique dry-stamping technique and uses Pantone colors on the cover that correspond to the topic of each issue. With its larger format and rich illustrations, 'Afterimages' stands out as a unique and visually captivating publication.

The first issue of 'Afterimages' was published in 2019, and by mid-2021, five issues had been released, with two issues per year. The magazine, measuring 230 x 300 mm and containing approximately 250-300 pages, is a testament to the dedication and creativity of the design team, including Marta Ostajewska, Mariusz Wlodarczyk, and Ryszard W. Kluszczynski.

Each issue of 'Afterimages' is a carefully curated blend of critical texts about art and design, interviews with prominent cultural figures, and high-quality visual content. The magazine serves as a platform for significant artistic and scientific events, showcasing the legacy of the academy and its modern interpretation.

The design process for 'Afterimages' was not without its challenges. The team had to strike a delicate balance between honoring tradition and creating a fresh, modern version of the magazine. Despite budget constraints and a small team, they successfully created a premium publication that has garnered attention and built a community around it.

Przemek Hajek's vision for 'Afterimages' extends beyond its visual appeal. The magazine's interaction with its audience is enhanced through high-quality print and paper, as well as the use of QR codes. The design concept and visual communication are coherent, reflecting the legacy of the academy while offering a contemporary perspective.

Recognizing the outstanding quality of 'Afterimages,' the magazine was honored with the Silver A' Design Award in 2022. This prestigious accolade highlights the exceptional expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated in the creation of the magazine.
