Weingut Waalem, a renowned vineyard located on the island of Foehr in the North Sea, has revealed its new brand identity designed by the talented Jörg Stauvermann. The design draws inspiration from the vineyard's unique location, with constant sea breezes and a harsh North Sea climate shaping the essence of the brand. The historical tiles and natural colors of the island's landscape have been intricately woven into the new brand identity, reflecting the rich maritime history and the resilience of the island's inhabitants.
The redesign, initiated in 2021, is a response to the impact of climate change on wine growing in the region. The iconic polar bear, symbolizing intelligence, fearlessness, and perseverance, has been incorporated into the design as a representation of the island's spirit. The 2022 relaunch focuses on a graphic reduction that allows for a stronger emphasis on the growing product range, while maintaining a square format inspired by the island's captain's houses.
The brand identity is typographically characterized by the Clan typeface, with different spacing and mathematically defined line spacing depending on the application. The Revista font family is utilized for all wine-based products, while a modern interpretation of the fracture Rostrot is employed for spirits. All products are bottled in 0.75L containers, maintaining a consistent and distinctive visual presence across the entire range.
The new brand identity reflects the vineyard's commitment to sustainable enjoyment, offering a unique and close-to-home experience for wine, sparkling wine, and spirits enthusiasts.
