Award-winning designer Jun Chen has unveiled a groundbreaking Laser Welding System, designed to revolutionize the production of power battery modules. The system, developed in March 2019 in Guangzhou, China, is a high-precision solution that utilizes the exceptional directivity and high power density of laser beams to achieve unparalleled welding efficiency and consistency.
The Laser Welding System is specifically engineered for the automated welding of independent lithium batteries into power battery packs. By leveraging the precise control of laser parameters and the assistance of a manipulator, the system ensures the formation of firm solder joints and welds, significantly enhancing the quality, safety, and productivity of the battery production process.
Measuring 8075 mm x 1920 mm x 2110 mm, the system is a result of extensive research and development aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of power battery production. The design team, led by Jun Chen, overcame significant technical and structural challenges to create a highly automated, efficient, and reliable welding solution for lithium batteries.
Jun Chen, an associate professor and master's supervisor at the Design Innovation Center of the School of Design and Art at Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, has been recognized for this innovative design with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Manufacturing and Processing Machinery Design category in 2021.
