kenji fujii's Bird's Sake Cup, designed to Refrain from Drinking, wins Silver A' Design Award for 3D Printed Forms and Products
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer kenji fujii's Bird's Sake Cup has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the 3D Printed Forms and Products category. The innovative design, aimed at helping individuals refrain from excessive alcohol consumption, has garnered recognition for its outstanding creativity and technical excellence.
The Bird's Sake Cup is a unique container designed to hold only 10 ml of liquor, allowing individuals to consume alcohol in small, controlled amounts. Inspired by the challenges posed by an aging society in Japan, the cup aims to support those vulnerable to alcohol, particularly women. The design's resemblance to a kissing gesture with a little bird adds a charming touch to the functionality.
Realized using Fusion 360 and transparent acrylic material, the cup is a result of fujii's dedication to addressing the limited 3D printing market in Japan, particularly in the everyday life items sector. The innovative solution to the challenge of controlling alcohol intake was achieved by optimizing the size of the beak hole, allowing for the gradual pouring of liquor.
Exhibited at DESIGN TOKYO in the spring of 2019, the Bird's Sake Cup has garnered attention for its unique approach to promoting responsible alcohol consumption. With its recognition at the A' Design Award, the design stands as a testament to fujii's exceptional creativity and commitment to addressing societal needs through innovative design solutions.
