The Kaohsiung City Government proudly unveils "Maritime Glow" at the 2022 Taiwan Lantern Festival, a mesmerizing musical opera that pays homage to the city's rich culture and history. The production, which took two years to complete, is a groundbreaking fusion of virtual projection technology and live performances, showcasing the city's deep connection to the sea and its maritime heritage.
The "Maritime Glow" production features a stunning display of 400 dazzling lights and 381 meters of visual images, creating the largest scale of performing arts in Taiwan. The performance, held at the world-class Weiwuying Theater, seamlessly integrates various traditional and contemporary art forms, including local opera, Taiwanese rock, Hakka, Yu opera, indigenous ancient songs, and more, offering a truly immersive experience for the audience.
With over 600 performers from 11 groups and 2 schools, "Maritime Glow" is a testament to the city's commitment to promoting Taiwanese opera and cultural heritage. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the production successfully captures the essence of Kaohsiung's past, present, and future, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
