Shin Asaw unveils "Sea And Life: Endless Chains" - an immersive VR edutainment experience for students
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Shin Asaw introduces "Sea And Life: Endless Chains," a groundbreaking VR experience aimed at educating primary and secondary students about marine environmental issues. The project, supported by the Nippon Foundation, combines a 360-degree documentary film and an interactive game to engage and enlighten young minds.
The immersive experience is divided into two parts: the Movie-Side presents a detailed documentary on marine environmental problems, while the Game-Side offers an underwater immersive experience with creature hunting and knowledge confirmation through quizzes.
Utilizing Unity for VR application development and various editing tools such as Adobe PremierePro and Autodesk Maya, the project incorporates extensive 360-degree shooting using GoPro Fusion, Kodak PIXPRO 4KVR360, RICOH THETA V, and Panasonic GH5. The VR goggles used are the OculusGo, chosen for its integrated design and low introduction cost.
Shin Asaw's team, including concept and game directors, 3D and 2D designers, and programmers, overcame technical challenges to create a seamless and educational VR experience. The project was realized in Tokyo, with filming in the seas around Japan and production completed in approximately a year.
Shin Asaw's "Sea And Life: Endless Chains" sets a new standard for immersive edutainment, providing a platform for children to learn about marine environmental issues in an engaging and impactful manner. The project has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020, further solidifying its significance in the field of education and VR technology.
