REDesign@Xiaohongshu Team Unveils "Guo Nian Hao" Packaging Design for Chinese New Year

REDesign@Xiaohongshu Team introduces "Guo Nian Hao," a packaging design inspired by the legend of the Spring Festival, aiming to pass on New Year traditions to the younger generation through an innovative combination of legends and stories. The project was launched in Shanghai in JAN 2022.

Xiaohongshu's "Guo Nian Hao" Packaging Design
Xiaohongshu's "Guo Nian Hao" packaging design continues the tradition of ancestors by offering a unique combination of "Light," "Sound," and "Red" gifts, including a camping night light, Halli Galli, red envelopes, and a red calendar book. The design features a new recognizable "Nian" character and utilizes recyclable and lightweight materials, with molded trays made from bagasse, a natural and environment-friendly material.
The "Guo Nian Hao" gift box is designed to celebrate the Chinese New Year and pass down cultural inheritance to the new generation. The gifts are concealed under a riddle sealed on the cover, adding an element of surprise and interaction to the design.
The most challenging part of the project was to propose a young and creative concept combined with a traditional story, while ensuring the packaging material and structure are lightweight and eco-friendly.
