Lau King's "Colors and Lines" project, a fusion of photography and painting, is inspired by the primary colors and aims to blur the lines between reality and surrealism.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lau King's "Colors and Lines" project is a unique fusion of photography and painting, inspired by the primary colors - Red, Yellow, and Blue. The project aims to experiment with these colors in reality, incorporating lines and different perspectives to create a 2-dimensional surrealism and painting-like photography.
Unlike traditional photography, the series presents a surreal and painting-like quality at first glance, blurring the lines between the two art forms. This distinctive feature allows the audience to experience a transcendence of the ordinary, moving between the realms of dream and reality.
The project was realized using digital photography and processed with software such as Vsco and Adobe Photoshop. The prints are produced on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper, with limited editions of 10 for each picture, framed and sized at 40 cm x 30 cm with a 10 cm wide black border on all sides.
Lau King's "Colors and Lines" series invites the audience to explore the world through the lens of colors, lines, contrast, geometry, and abstraction, offering a fresh perspective on the ordinary. The project, initiated in June 2018, continues to evolve as an ongoing exploration of beauty in the world, yet to be exhibited.
King's talent in photography and visual art has garnered international recognition, including the Bronze A' Design Award in Photography and Photo Manipulation Design in 2020. Her work has been featured in various prestigious exhibitions and publications, showcasing her unique approach to art and photography.
