Xinyue Guo's XYG Window project, recognized in Core77 Design Awards 2022, showcases a modern visual identity design and web interaction project that seamlessly integrates traditional Chinese art and culture into contemporary design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Xinyue Guo's XYG Window project is a modern visual identity design that draws inspiration from ancient Chinese literati seal font and the window designs of Suzhou's classical gardens. The project, initiated in early 2019 in New York and completed in 2022, was recognized as a notable mention in Core77 Design Awards 2022.
Fusing elements from ancient literati with modernity, XYG Window seeks to demonstrate the feasibility of creating modern visual communication based on traditional art and cultures. The design showcases the integration of traditional Chinese art and culture into contemporary design, serving as a window through which prospective clients can see XYG Studio's design style.
True to form, the corresponding logo, tangible products, and the studio's website home page serve as a window through which prospective clients can see XYG Studio's design style.
XYG Window is a visual communication design with strong cultural identity. In modern digital visual and interface design, the diverse styles from different traditional cultures around the world are gradually converging into one universal visual language - modern UI design language. XYG Window enriches the visual diversity in digital design and helps our shared cultures to be better inherited.
While modern design language dominates the digital interface design world, XYG Window integrated traditional culture and art forms into the game. The visual identity emerged from a simple, yet unique, geometric form, and is a nod to both classicism and modern simplicity. By deconstructing the Chinese characters into strokes and reconstructing them using seal script font, the design embodies elements of classical aesthetics. At the same time, by simplifying the traditional seal and refining it with grids and the Fibonacci spiral, the end result is unapologetically modern â providing a wealth of possibilities to continue developing the interface and interaction design for XYG Studio's entire website.
With the digital design, users can view the origin story behind the brand's visual identity, see it unfold, and use the navigation buttons formed by the yin and yang spaces as entry portals to explore the website. In this way, visitors can immerse themselves in China's rich cultural heritage â which is at the cornerstone of XYG Studio. With the tangible design, users can intuitively feel the "Yin" and 'Yang" spaces in the identity by playing with the products.
