Jiankun SUN's Multifunctional Drug Packaging - Petals

Jiankun SUN has developed a groundbreaking drug packaging solution, Petals, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of the elderly. Inspired by the challenges faced by his grandfather, Jiankun set out to create a packaging that would make taking medication more convenient for seniors.

Petals' unique design features seven petals, each representing a day's dosage, with corresponding number markers for easy identification. The central disc is equipped with a cutting line for effortless access to a single pill. Breaking a petal not only tears the foil but also destroys a number, reminding the user to take another pill. Additionally, the transparent part of the packaging contains water, functioning as a magnifying glass to aid in reading instructions.

This innovative design utilizes cost-effective materials commonly used in pharmaceutical packaging. The middle transparent part employs a convex thin plastic sheet filled with water, providing a magnifier function while promoting environmental sustainability.

Jiankun SUN, along with Yiqin Zhou and Gaoliang Wu, dedicated three weeks to the development of Petals at Wuhan University of Technology, resulting in a Bronze A' Design Award in 2017. This prestigious accolade recognizes the exceptional creativity and practicality of Petals, showcasing its potential to enhance the quality of life for the elderly.
