The Bank of England's banknotes take center stage in a visually stunning photography project by Matteo Ruisi, capturing the intricate details and unique features of the British Pound Sterling notes.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Matteo Ruisi, along with a talented team including Creative Director Peter McCabe and Photographer Lee Funnell, embarked on a photography project to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of the British Pound Sterling notes. The project began in May 2020 and culminated in a series of captivating images, grouped into three categories: groups of notes, details, and abstract. The project was completed in Chartham, Kent, and the final shoot day was on 20th February 2022, capturing the new 50-pound note to complete the set.
The project presented several challenges, including adhering to strict regulations governing the reproduction of banknotes. The team overcame these challenges by defining a style that highlighted the notes' beauty while complying with the law and guidelines from the Bank of England.
The stunning images, captured using a macro lens and innovative lighting techniques, offer a fresh perspective on the banknotes, showcasing their security features, characters, and intricate designs. The project's success was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in Photography and Photo Manipulation in 2022, underscoring its creative ingenuity and contribution to the visual arts.
