Hiroshima, Japan - April 2023: Hiroshima Dentetsu introduces a one-of-a-kind hand towel souvenir made from recycled origami cranes, symbolizing peace and hope for the future.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hajime Tsushima, the visionary designer behind the project, has created a remarkable "origami crane hand towel" using recycled paper cranes donated by the city of Hiroshima. The towel features the iconic 650 exposed train, with a design that incorporates a hole to reveal the 650 characters. The pattern of the hand towel represents the prefectural tree of Hiroshima, the maple. Additionally, the packaging unfolds to reveal typography in the form of overlapping stairs.
This innovative product is made by reusing origami cranes donated to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and processing them into rayon thread. The 25cm x 25cm hand towel comes in a unique package measuring W175mm x H168mm x D20mm, made from a single piece of paper. One package has a hole cut out to display the number 650, while the other reveals typography in a stair-like manner.
Available for sale from April 2023, this souvenir is aimed at tourists visiting Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Hiroshima Peace Exchange Fund or the Atomic Bomb Dome Preservation Fund.
