FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maria Bradovkova's "Splash" project is a personal drawing project that showcases her creativity and abstract thinking. The project consists of five illustrations created as an exercise to challenge her artistic abilities. Each drawing in the series was inspired by a random splash of ink and developed into a detailed linear drawing. The main idea behind the project was to be inspired by abstract irregular shapes of ink, allowing the subconscious to give a voice to the illustrations. The drawings represent human or animalistic characters in emotional moments of lament, instinct, fear, melancholy, and sadness. The project was realized using ink, pencil, marker, and white crayon on paper, with each illustration having its own dominant color. The drawings were created during October 2019 in Cracow, Poland.
Bradovkova's "Splash" project can serve as an inspiration for creators to use this method in their own practice, expanding creativity and intuitive drawing. The illustrations provide space to feel and create stories, allowing the viewer to interact with the emotional depth of the characters depicted. The project was a result of Bradovkova's playful and creative approach, combining the organic form of watercolor with linear drawing to create original and expressive characters.
Maria Bradovkova is a student of painting at Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland, and has a background in design from the Technical University in Kosice, Slovakia. She is currently working in the fields of painting, drawing, illustration, and occasionally graphic design, using traditional techniques like ink and gouache on paper, as well as oil on canvas. Her artistic focus revolves around creating sentimental figurative images, exploring the relationship between individuals and the outside world. The "Splash" project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category in 2020, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature that meets professional and industrial requirements.
