FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nargiza Usmanova's "Outsiders" is a lighting performance that took place in Oakville, Canada, featuring handmade costumes that transformed human bodies into illuminated aliens, conveying the message that energy is the foundation of human livelihood and a potential key to solving the energy problem on Earth.
The performance, a fiction on the theme of energy, showcased the use of LED modules and zip-ties to create lighting costumes, with the main idea being that energy is actually found inside of us.
The project was realized using 116 LED modules, 5,000 red zip-ties, 20 meters of wire, and a portable power station.
Nargiza Usmanova, the author and costume designer, was supported by models Victor and Rita Zubashev, Mikhail Palityka, and assistance from Maxim Zinchuk, Tatiana Belousova, Olga Goldobina, and technical support from GVA Lighting.
The performance was staged at three different locations in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, with the largest taking place in the Lions Park Valley.
Photography and videography for the project were credited to Maxim Zinchuk, and the copyrights belong to Nargiza Usmanova, 2016.
