ReCollection is an AI art experience that synthesizes personal memories based on users' language input, blurring the boundaries between remembrance and imagination through AI system design and experimental visualization. This innovative project was created by Weidi Zhang and Jieliang Luo and has been presented in various locations worldwide.

ReCollection, a groundbreaking AI art experience, was inspired by the poignant reality of memory loss due to Alzheimer's and related dementias. It harnesses the power of language to imagine and reassemble fragmented memories, offering new possibilities for collective memories and cultural reproduction. The design integrates AI systems and experimental visualization into an interactive art experience, inviting participants to share their personal memories and transforming them into moving computer graphics in real-time.
The art installation, which has been presented in various locations including the Los Angeles Convention Center, Signal Immersive Art Gallery, and Media and Immersive eXperience Center, provides a unique and inclusive conversation starter, transcending boundaries with support for over 89 different languages. It raises awareness of future memory preservation and empathy for the dementia community through a personalized aesthetic experience.
ReCollection was awarded Bronze in the A' Idea and Conceptual Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements and makes the world a better place.
