Discover the unique semi-underground metro station, Michurinsky Prospect, designed to honor the legacy of Russian biologist Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Michurinsky Prospect, a 3-level semi-underground metro station in Moscow, stands out with its computer-generated patterns and vibrant red color scheme, creating a joyful highlight in the suburban area. The station's architecture features a continuous visual narrative, with blossoming apple tree patterns paying homage to Michurin's groundbreaking work in apple cultivation.
The station's unique design incorporates references to Michurin's achievements, using materials such as granite, glazed ceramics, glass, steel, and aluminum to create a visually stunning and functional space.
Architect Leonid Borzenkov and graphic artist Liudmila Shurygina collaborated to bring this vision to life, with Shurygina's graphic design expertise contributing to the station's captivating aesthetic.
The station, launched in August 2018, is located in Moscow's living area along Michurinsky Prospect near its intersection with Udaltsova Street. Its unique design and construction required meticulous research into soil conditions and groundwaters to determine the station's depth and construction weight.
Michurinsky Prospect was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically represents the achievements of Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin and contributes to the improvement of urban environments.
