YINGRI GUAN Unveils Crystal Visualizations: A Unique Art Installation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YINGRI GUAN's Crystal Visualizations is a captivating art installation that merges the beauty of crystals with the intricacy of fractal patterns. The project, which began in December 2012 in Buffalo and concluded in December 2019 in Seattle, is a testament to the designer's innovative approach to art and design.
Using computer programming and laser cutting technology, YINGRI GUAN transformed generated fractal images into stunning sculpture etchings. The resulting pieces, inspired by four different crystal structures, are assembled from cut acrylic glass and illuminated with LED lights to accentuate the intricate generative lines.
Measuring 1000mm in width, 800mm in depth, and 1200mm in height, Crystal Visualizations invites viewers to explore the complexities of crystal structures through close interaction with the four distinct pieces. The project's inspiration, derived from San Francisco's unique topological maps and the designer's fascination with crystals and fractals, has culminated in a visually striking and intellectually stimulating installation.
