Budapest-based Graphasel Design Studio has been honored with the Silver A' Packaging Design Award 2025 for its striking Seven Hills Whisky packaging, a contemporary design that captures the unique smoky character of Hungary's first smoky single malt whisky through abstract smoke motifs and sustainable materials.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Graphasel Design Studio, led by designer János Pintér and art director László Ördögh, has received the prestigious Silver A' Packaging Design Award 2025 for its work on Seven Hills Whisky, commissioned by Seven Hills Distillery Kft. The award recognizes the studio's innovative approach to beverage packaging, blending artistry and technical excellence to reflect the whisky's distinctive smoky profile and Hungarian heritage.
The Seven Hills Whisky bottle is distinguished by its abstract smoke pattern, which encircles the bottle and visually echoes the spirit's rich, smoky essence. The interplay of black and copper tones on the label evokes the depth of flavor and the craftsmanship of pot still distillation. A handcrafted beechwood screw cap, made from the same wood as the whisky's ageing barrels, reinforces the connection between the maturation process and natural materials, while the modern, sleek label design is inspired by the iconic '7' shape of the Sevenhills logo.
Unique to this packaging is the way the whisky itself enhances the design: when viewed through the filled bottle, the liquid amplifies the illusion of swirling smoke, reinforcing the product's character. The design builds upon the visual identity established by Sevenhills Distillery's Tokaj Gin, but introduces a more refined and contemporary aesthetic to match the innovative nature of Hungary's first smoky single malt whisky. The project, completed in Budapest at the end of 2024, involved extensive research and creative exploration to achieve a balance between subtlety and visual impact, resulting in a package that both honors tradition and sets a new standard for modern beverage design.
