Made Home, designed by Eun Ji Kim, has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Website and Web Design category for 2025. The project reimagines the online marketplace by blending e-commerce functionality with compelling brand storytelling, specifically tailored to highlight the unique offerings of small-scale food artisans within New York City communities. The platform not only provides a visually engaging and intuitive user experience but also fosters a deeper connection between makers and consumers through curated storytelling and dynamic visuals.
Inspired by the need to support local businesses and celebrate craftsmanship, Made Home was developed after extensive research into user behavior, marketplace models, and the needs of both artisans and their customers. The design process utilized Figma for wireframing and prototyping, while branding and imagery were crafted using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The result is a seamless, accessible, and modern web experience that guides users through curated selections and personalized recommendations, making online shopping feel as inviting as a stroll through a neighborhood market.
One of the key challenges addressed by Made Home was balancing robust e-commerce features with the emotional storytelling necessary to showcase both products and the artisans behind them. Through iterative prototyping and user interviews, the platform was refined to ensure clarity, engagement, and accessibility. By transforming digital commerce into a community-driven experience, Made Home elevates locally made products and the authentic stories that inspire them, setting a new standard for online marketplaces dedicated to supporting small businesses.
