FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Zoom" Exhibition Catalogue Melds Hungarian Folk Art with Generative Graphic Design Innovation

"Zoom," the exhibition catalogue designed by Zoltán Berta for the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025 in the Print and Published Media category. This recognition celebrates the catalogue's creative fusion of traditional Hungarian folk art motifs with contemporary graphic design and bookbinding techniques. The project stands out for its striking red square format and the use of uniquely generated spine patterns, making each of the thousand printed copies a one-of-a-kind piece.

Drawing inspiration from the dominant red hues and geometric forms of Hungarian folk art, Berta's design features a vibrant Pergraphica Colours Imperial red cover and a square 225 x 225 mm format. Upon opening, readers discover a stylized spine decoration-a modern reinterpretation of classic embroidered motifs. Each book's inner spine showcases a generative pattern, ensuring no two copies are alike and echoing the exhibition's theme of shifting perspectives and unrepeatability. This innovative approach extends to the catalogue's content, which presents the museum's collection from fresh and playful viewpoints, both visually and narratively.

The "Zoom" exhibition and its accompanying catalogue were developed in collaboration with art1st Design Studio, led by Daniel Taraczky. The catalogue's production combines soft cover swiss binding and a variety of premium papers, including Munken Lynx, Glama Basic, and Pergraphica Infinite Black, across its 232 pages. The project exemplifies how traditional cultural elements can be revitalized through modern design processes, offering museum visitors and readers an engaging and memorable experience. The Silver A' Design Award recognizes this achievement as a benchmark of excellence and innovation in print media.
