"Blossoms": Award-Winning Handcrafted Wall Art Installation Elevates Dining Spaces with Nature-Inspired Design

"Blossoms" by Deval Ambani is a striking wall art installation that brings the energy and vibrancy of nature into the heart of the home. Conceived for a spacious 5000 sq ft apartment in South Mumbai, the project transforms a 12ft by 9ft dining room wall with 50 unique, semi-transparent flowers in radiant pink and orange hues. Each handcrafted piece is designed to interact with both natural and artificial light, casting dynamic shadows and reflections that evolve throughout the day, making the dining area a living, ever-changing visual experience.

The installation's flowers are individually made using a unique mixed-media technique that achieves a delicate, glass-like effect while remaining durable and easy to maintain. Mounted with custom SS 304 metal fittings finished in PVD rose gold, the artwork avoids the fragility of traditional glass while offering a luxurious, seamless look. The fittings are designed to resemble elegant stems, varying in height to create depth and movement, and are placed from six feet upwards to ensure safety and accessibility. The result is a harmonious blend of artistry and functionality, where each flower's placement is carefully considered to maximize interaction with light and enhance the emotional impact of the space.

The project, completed between March and June 2022, is the result of extensive research and experimentation with materials to balance delicacy, durability, and visual appeal. Ambani's commitment to artisanal craftsmanship is evident in the uniqueness of each piece, setting "Blossoms" apart from mass-produced decor. The installation not only elevates the dining room into a showstopping centerpiece but also champions the value of handmade art in contemporary interiors. The Iron A' Design Award recognizes "Blossoms" for its innovative approach, technical excellence, and its ability to create a meaningful, immersive environment that celebrates both nature and design.
