Kinmuni: Revolutionizing Meal Customization and Nutrition Tracking for Local Restaurants

Kinmuni, developed by Piyaphon Inthavong, is a pioneering nutrition calculator and meal customization interface created specifically for a local restaurant in Vientiane, Laos. The project began in March 2023 and concluded in May 2023, aiming to address the region's limited nutritional awareness and lack of flexible meal options. Drawing inspiration from the Sharpen challenge and real user insights, Kinmuni empowers customers to make informed food choices while streamlining restaurant operations.

The interface allows users to browse a digital menu, view detailed nutritional information, and customize their meals according to dietary preferences. Orders are sent directly to the restaurant's kitchen system, reducing wait times and improving order accuracy. Kinmuni's loyalty program and recurring order scheduling features further enhance customer retention and satisfaction. The design is optimized for iOS and Android platforms, featuring a minimalistic, accessible interface tailored for mobile screens.

Kinmuni's development process was grounded in Google's UX methodology, incorporating user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. The team conducted interviews and observations with local cafe-goers, entrepreneurs, and health-conscious individuals to identify key pain points and preferences. The result is a user-friendly platform that not only supports healthier eating habits but also improves restaurant efficiency and customer engagement. The Bronze A' Design Award recognizes Kinmuni's creative ingenuity, technical excellence, and positive impact on quality of life in the community.
