Naser Nasiri's "Color Rhythms" visual identity for the Abd al-Qadir Maraghi National Music Festival in Maragheh, Iran, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025, celebrating its innovative blend of historical architecture, music, and contemporary graphic design, unveiled at the festival held December 23-25, 2024.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The "Color Rhythms" visual identity, crafted by acclaimed Iranian designer Naser Nasiri, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication category for 2025. Commissioned for the Abd al-Qadir Maraghi National Music Festival, the project draws deeply from Maragheh's iconic architecture-most notably the Sorkh Dome's Kufic inscriptions and geometric brickwork. The identity was unveiled at the Nikkhah Auditorium in Maragheh during the festival, which ran from December 23 to 25, 2024.
Nasiri's design stands out for its harmonious integration of tradition and modernity. The visual language features hand-drawn illustrations of traditional Iranian musical instruments and hands, symbolizing the ancient roots of Maragheh's musical heritage. The color palette-lapis blue, gold, turquoise, crimson red, and verdigris-pays homage to Iranian miniature art and the city's cultural legacy. Typography inspired by ancient Kufic Maqeli calligraphy forms the backbone of the festival's branding, while the event logo cleverly merges the number two with a hand playing the daf, marking the festival's second edition.
The comprehensive identity system includes a main poster, stage and side banners, exhibition graphics, urban billboards, tote bags, organizer tags, and a 300-page commemorative book. Developed through extensive research-spanning field studies of Maragheh's architecture, expert interviews, and historical analysis-the design overcame challenges of limited access to authentic sources and production constraints. The result is a dynamic, universally accessible visual identity that bridges Eastern aesthetics with contemporary minimalism, ensuring the festival's message resonates with both local and international audiences.
