Macedonian artist Maja Kirovska has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design for her project "Luck," a mixed-media installation first exhibited in Skopje and shown internationally since 2014, which critically examines the cultural construction of luck through handcrafted and found objects, photography, and video.

"Luck," a conceptual art installation by Maja Kirovska, has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2025 for its innovative approach to exploring the cultural symbolism of luck. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories of crafting four-leaf clovers during summers in the Macedonian countryside, Kirovska revisits a personal ritual to question how society constructs and embraces ideas of luck and superficial happiness. The installation combines photography, handcrafted and found objects, and video to present an ironic "do-it-yourself" guide to manufacturing luck, prompting viewers to reflect on authenticity and the pursuit of fortune.
The artwork features seven digital photographs that document the step-by-step process of creating counterfeit four-leaf clovers by attaching an extra leaf to naturally trifoliate clovers. Thirteen encyclopedias, each opened to a random page, display pressed fake clovers, emphasizing the role of chance and serendipity in the installation. A video component further reveals the artificial nature of the clovers, inviting viewers to contemplate the ease with which symbols of luck can be fabricated and accepted as genuine. The installation's layout encourages visitors to move through the space, engaging with each element and questioning the authenticity of what they see.
Since its debut in Skopje in 2014, "Luck" has been exhibited in galleries across Europe and Asia, including Zagreb, Ponte de Lima, and Gangneung, resonating with diverse audiences. The project is grounded in conceptual art research, utilizing accessible media and subtle irony to provoke thought about superstition, happiness, and the ways society packages these concepts. The Bronze A' Design Award recognizes Kirovska's ability to blend personal narrative with universal themes, using strong visual communication to challenge perceptions and inspire reflection on the nature of fortune.
