AI Sealer, developed by Wenqi Wu and a multidisciplinary team in Hangzhou, China, reimagines the centuries-old tradition of Chinese seal carving for the digital age. Launched in December 2024 after two years of research and development, AI Sealer leverages advanced deep learning and intelligent manufacturing to allow anyone-regardless of skill or experience-to design and create personalized seals. The system addresses the declining practicality and complexity of traditional seal carving by offering an intuitive, three-step process: text input, character style selection, and layout adjustment. Users can then certify their creations as NFTs, ensuring both cultural preservation and digital ownership.

What sets AI Sealer apart is its seamless integration of digital and physical experiences. The platform analyzes historical seal scripts, enabling users to select from a variety of authentic styles. Once a design is finalized, users can locate a nearby intelligent carving machine via Google Maps, scan a QR code, and watch as their custom seal is precisely engraved in just five minutes. The machine, constructed from durable materials like magnesium-aluminum alloy and tungsten steel, features automatic dust extraction and precise tool positioning for clean, accurate results. Finished seals can be used for stamping, art collection, or even applied to products such as canvas bags and electronics, expanding the craft's modern relevance.

AI Sealer's development overcame significant technical and artistic challenges, including the digitalization of complex seal scripts and the need for microscopic carving precision. The project's research-driven approach ensures that each seal maintains artistic authenticity while introducing new applications and ecosystems for design, production, and consumption. By making traditional seal carving accessible, customizable, and relevant in both digital and physical forms, AI Sealer not only preserves a vital aspect of East Asian heritage but also redefines its significance for contemporary society. The project's excellence has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2025, underscoring its impact on art, technology, and cultural preservation.
