Xichang Joyhub Air Hotel: A Fusion of Bashu Culture, Modern Luxury, and Environmental Harmony

The Xichang Joyhub Air Hotel, designed by SHXDAL and completed in July 2024, stands as a testament to the integration of local culture, ecological preservation, and contemporary comfort. Nestled on the north shore of Qionghai Sea in the Qionglu Scenic Area, the 22,000-square-meter resort is a garden-style sanctuary that reimagines traditional Western Sichuan architecture for the modern traveler. The project's holistic approach ensures a seamless guest experience, blending accommodation, dining, conference, and wellness facilities within a tranquil, naturally inspired environment.

Drawing inspiration from the region's Bashu heritage, the hotel employs materials such as artistic paint, wood-printed aluminum panels, stone, and wood finishes to evoke a sense of serenity and Zen. The open courtyards, bamboo-inspired structures, and carefully layered landscapes foster privacy and relaxation, while the lighting design subtly enhances the architecture's connection with its natural surroundings. The design team prioritized environmental sustainability, working closely with the Environmental Institute to conserve local wetlands and integrate native plant species, resulting in a landscape that respects and elevates the local ecosystem.

SHXDAL's cross-disciplinary team overcame significant challenges, including wetland conservation and the need for climate-sensitive landscaping, by leveraging regional plant diversity and innovative construction techniques. The result is a distinctive, elegant hotel that offers guests an immersive experience of Xichang's poetic beauty, seamlessly fusing humanities and nature. The Platinum A' Design Award recognizes the Xichang Joyhub Air Hotel as a world-class example of hospitality design that advances both aesthetic and environmental standards in the industry.
