FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The "Meet in Arcadia" brand image, crafted by Xiaoming Meng, stands as a testament to the transformative power of design in rural revitalization. Drawing inspiration from the Chinese character for "beauty," the logo elegantly integrates abstract forms of terraced rice paddies and Miao village houses, capturing the picturesque landscape and cultural richness of Longtang Village. This minimalist yet evocative design not only serves as a visual identity but also as a symbol of hope and aspiration for the local community.
Initiated in 2017, the project was conceived to address pressing challenges in Longtang Village, such as limited rural industries, low incomes, and the outmigration of young people. By positioning rural tourism at its core, "Meet in Arcadia" emphasizes the preservation of traditional culture and lifestyle, while supporting the collective economy and encouraging villagers' active participation in brand building. The unified brand image guides the tourism experience, fosters emotional resonance, and helps visitors gain a deeper understanding of the village's unique story.
The design process involved extensive field research, qualitative interviews, and collaboration with villagers, project staff, and designers. Overcoming the complexities of cultural integration and multi-dimensional goals, the team succeeded in translating traditional motifs into a contemporary brand that distinguishes itself among rural tourism initiatives. The project's recognition at the 2025 A' Design Awards underscores its creative ingenuity and positive impact on both the local economy and community spirit.
