Scene Plus presents the Pilgrimage to Lang Song, an urban design project preserving the Lang Song Seminary as a living heritage and promoting community-based tourism.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Scene Plus introduces the Pilgrimage to Lang Song, an urban design project aimed at preserving the Lang Song Seminary as a cultural heritage site and enhancing its value for community-based tourism. The project draws inspiration from the Cradle of Vietnamese script, focusing on the beauty of the site, the bay, the lagoon, and the mountains, as well as the rich heritage and cultural passion of the Binh Dinh people.
The Pilgrimage is distinguished by its unique features, including the preservation and enhancement of the seminary, the connection of the old church to the riverbank through a square for commercial and cultural activities, and the creation of outdoor art and lighting exhibitions on national script, poetry, and music.
The master plan covers 71 hectares, preserving and enhancing the seminary site and nearly 1 km of the riverbank. It also includes the development of 7.1 hectares for commercial, cultural, and touristic activities, with a 4000 m2 square leading to the river and the floating market.
The Pilgrimage to Lang Song serves as a pilgrimage site for Catholics and a community-based tourism area, attracting visitors with the beauty of the seminary, surrounding rice fields, and the story of the cradle of the national script. The project aims to inspire artists, host events and festivals, and provide opportunities for visitors to interact with the local community.
Initiated in 2018 in Binh Dinh, the project received zoning and detail master plan approvals in 2018 and 2020, respectively. The design process involved extensive research, historical documentation, and collaboration with local stakeholders, overcoming challenges such as connecting old and new cultures and adapting to the impact of COVID-19 on tourism.
