Innovative Baijiu Packaging Marries Tradition, Craftsmanship, and Modern Design in Award-Winning Project

"Source of Subtle Waves," the latest Baijiu packaging design by Zhang Jie, has received the prestigious Bronze A' Packaging Design Award for 2025, recognizing its outstanding creativity and technical excellence. Developed in Chengdu and launched in the Chinese market in December 2024, this project sets a new benchmark for liquor packaging by merging traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. The design draws inspiration from the harmony between strength and gentleness, a core value in Eastern philosophy, and is realized through a distinctive waterdrop-shaped bottle that symbolizes the transformation of grain and water into Baijiu.

The packaging stands out for its innovative use of materials and form. The bottle is crafted from Jingdezhen ceramic, renowned for its breathability and chemical resistance, ensuring optimal preservation of the liquor. Gold-plated metal accents highlight the interplay between strength and gentleness, while the cap, inspired by ancient Chinese scholar headdresses, pays homage to the rich heritage of poetry and drinking culture. The ergonomic design, featuring a balanced 5:5 ratio between the body and neck, ensures both aesthetic appeal and practical handling, making pouring effortless and dignified.

The project's realization involved advanced ceramic firing techniques and high-temperature relief decals, resulting in a textured, three-dimensional surface with a refined tactile quality. This approach not only enhances the artistic value of the packaging but also aligns with green production standards by minimizing energy and material consumption. By breaking away from the rustic style typical of Jiang flavor Baijiu, "Source of Subtle Waves" transforms the liquor bottle into a collectible art piece, offering consumers a culturally meaningful and elevated drinking experience. The award recognizes Zhang Jie's commitment to integrating tradition with innovation, contributing to the evolution of packaging design in China and beyond.
