"Brilliance" Public Artwork Debuts at ONE PENGRUI, Showcasing Lingnan Culture and Modern Artistry

"Brilliance," created by Chen Xin in collaboration with Lingnan copper artist Chen Huanzhi and a multidisciplinary design team, is now on display at ONE PENGRUI in Guangzhou. The installation, measuring 2600mm wide, 766mm deep, and 358mm high, features eight intricately crafted copper fish that appear to swim gracefully within a tranquil pool. Drawing inspiration from the shimmering blue and gold hues of the Pearl River, the artwork embodies the region's rich cultural heritage while embracing innovative design techniques.

The sculpture's unique integration of traditional Lingnan copper craftsmanship and modern hot coloring technology results in a dynamic visual experience. Each fish is highlighted by a sophisticated lighting system that blends cool and warm tones, enhancing the piece's three-dimensionality and creating an immersive atmosphere for visitors. The golden-edged fish, rendered in transparent jasper tones, evoke a sense of honor and elegance, reflecting Guangzhou's leisurely lifestyle and the project's themes of leisure and harmony.

"Brilliance" was conceived to address spatial challenges within the guest courtyard at ONE PENGRUI, transforming the environment by guiding visual flow and alleviating the oppressive feel of surrounding structures. The collaborative effort between artists and designers ensured that the artwork not only honors traditional techniques but also meets contemporary standards of durability and maintenance. Advanced anti-corrosion treatments and meticulous craftsmanship guarantee the sculpture's lasting beauty and cultural resonance. The project's excellence was recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2025, underscoring its impact on public art and urban space.
