Kazuaki Kawahara unveils Theodorus File Box, a revolutionary stationery product inspired by the relationship between Vincent van Gogh and his brother, Theodorus.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kazuaki Kawahara's Theodorus File Box is a groundbreaking stationery product that redefines traditional file boxes. Crafted from corrugated cardboard with printed paper on both sides, these file boxes boast a unique semicircular shape when three are lined up, offering a visually stunning and functional storage solution. The inside of each box is adorned with captivating imagery, with four distinct designs split between two series: the space series, featuring the moon and the earth, and the fruit series, showcasing a watermelon and an orange. These designs are a nod to the client's business in the aerospace industry, with a logo inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night masterpiece.
Measuring at 270mm in width, 102mm in depth, and 310mm in height, the file boxes stand out as a testament to innovative design and branding. The project, initiated in March 2020 and completed in October 2020 in Japan, involved extensive research and creative problem-solving to bring this unique concept to life. The file boxes are patented with utility model registration No (U3228257) 3228257 in Japan, marking a significant milestone in stationery design innovation.
"Our roles in this project included product design, naming, logo design, and branding for the file boxes," noted Kazuaki Kawahara, the art director and designer behind this visionary creation. "We wanted the boxes to look like the real thing, inside and out. Numerous minor adjustments to the shape and layout were required to achieve that. The images used are actual photographs, including the moon and the earth, which were rendered as 3D models from flat photographs before use."
