The Big Book of Bullshit is a graphic exploration of truth, trust, and lies, divided into 3 visually juxtaposed chapters, aiming to foster a dialogue of questioning and examination.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lisa Winstanley's The Big Book of Bullshit is a thought-provoking graphic exploration of truth, trust, and lies, divided into three visually juxtaposed chapters. The Truth presents an illustrated essay on the psychology of deception, while The Trust offers a visual investigation of the notion and fragility of trust. The Lies showcases an illustrated gallery of anonymous confessions of deception, collected from an online confessional platform and subsequently illustrated. The book's visual layout takes inspiration from Jan Tschichold's 'Van de Graaf canon', used in book design to divide a page in pleasing proportions.
Realized with a screen printed neon book cover and high-quality textured paper, the 198-page book features a white matt finish and a quality binding for the inner pages. The outer case is blind embossed with the word "truth". The project, which started in 2014 in Kuwait and was completed in 2017 in the UK, had an edited and revised 2nd edition designed and produced in Singapore in 2019.
Lisa Winstanley, an Assistant Professor in the School of Art Design and Media, has over 20 years of commercial experience and has won numerous prestigious industry awards for her work. The Big Book of Bullshit was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding expertise and innovation in print and published media design.
