The 2023 Taoyuan Land Art Festival, organized by Fundesign.tv, is set to captivate audiences with its seamless integration of Hakka culture and contemporary art. The festival, in conjunction with the 2023 World Hakka Expo, invites global travelers and locals to immerse themselves in Taoyuan's captivating narrative, using Longtan and Qingpu as central hubs.
Since 2013, the festival has redefined art engagement, blending landscapes and public interaction. The primary exhibit extends from Longtan's history-rich Great Pond to the dynamic sports park, encapsulating centuries of evolution. The festival aims to weave local contributions with global interactions, utilizing Hakka culture as a bridge to connect diverse communities.
Featuring a rare gathering of art, the festival extracts the essence of local cultural spirit and life content, expanding into various mediums for creation. From traditional bamboo, wood, and textiles to new media like video and digital interaction, the festival endeavors to embed art into people's daily lives, evoking resonance.
With two exhibition areas in total, the festival showcases a total of thirteen artworks, each with its unique dimensions and installations. The fusion of local identity and grassroots culture is concretely manifested in the artwork through multiple workshops, interactive sessions, and on-site research, emphasizing the integration of locality and artistry.
Exploring Taiwan's complex history across various ruling periods, the festival faced challenges in navigating streets and alleys, consulting local elders for insights into the region's evolution. Limited historical documents were supplemented by local library resources, crucial for project completion. The pivotal aspect of the festival is cultivating a unique ceremonial atmosphere in diverse venue locations, involving prior coordination with local authorities and effective human communication.
