Min Huei Lu's hypothetical film festival project celebrates the films of Alfred Hitchcock, incorporating the prevailing obsession with voyeurism and the essence of the director's storytelling style. The project was awarded Bronze in A' Website and Web Design Awards in 2021.

Min Huei Lu's project, "Obsessive Love," is a hypothetical film festival website designed to celebrate the films of Alfred Hitchcock. The project aims to incorporate the artistic expression of Hitchcock and five chosen films through a consistent visual language and design deliverables that mesh together as an integrated system. The objective is to coordinate a complex set of materials that must function together as a whole, marrying multiple messages with divergent formatsâall with a unified and holistic aesthetic that contains the essence of the directors and their storytelling style.
The website, designed with dimensions of 1920px X 1080px, utilizes technologies such as Adobe XD and Adobe Photoshop. The project required extensive research, prototype testing for user ease, and a focus on achieving a well-organized user interface for a pleasant user experience. It was completed in San Francisco, starting in March 2019 and finishing in June 2019.
Min Huei Lu's design follows a thread in which unfulfilled characters stalk victims, giving them a sense of ownership, ultimately leading to dark empowerment that motivates the voyeur to murder. The visual elements, user interface, and user experience are all designed from a voyeur perspective, aiming to make audiences feel complicit in the events onscreen. The project faced challenges in exploring and understanding Hitchcockâs work on a 5-series of films, particularly focusing on the perspective of a voyeur and incorporating the physical attributes of the voyeurâs tools into the design process and innovation.
